Click your Start button at the bottom of your screen. Some people rearrange their desktop so that the Start button is at the top of their window. Either way, click the Start button to begin. When the menu pops up, click on the Control Panel link.
The Control Panel folder will open and you will see different icons in the folder. If you can't see the icons, do this. Go to the top of your window and click Tools > Folder Options. When the window opens, click on the View Tab. Under Hidden Files and Folder, tick the Show Hidden Files button. Click Apply and then the OK button. Now you should see your icons.

You can also customize the pointers how you want them if you can't find a scheme that you like. To change a pointer, click on the pointer that you want to change. Then click the Browse button. A window will open with different pointers in it. Click the pointer that you want and click the Open button. Go down to the next pointer and repeat the steps above to change it. Click the Apply button to apply the new mouse pointers.
How to Change the Speed of your Mouse Pointer in Windows XP
You can change the speed of your mouse by clicking on the Pointers Option tab. Under the Motion section you will see a bar. At one end it says slow and at the other end it says fast. Slide the bar to the right to speed your mouse up. Click Apply to apply the changes.
